This site is an add-on to our American Insects web site. The latter site includes images of some 2400 insects from North and South America. This site, on the other hand, serves as a sort of pointer for those who want to see only images of Neotropical (Latin American) insects.
This site includes several pages of thumbnails organized by Order. On one of these pages (for example, the Beetles page), when you click on a thumbnail you will be taken to the appropriate page on the American Insects web site. Since this current site carries you to another site, please use your "Back" button to return to this Latin American Insects web site.
This site, like its companion American Insects, is very much a work in progress. We hope to add more orders, and many more species, in the coming months and years. At present, most insects included here have been identified to tribe, genus, or species. The folks that have helped provide these identifications are listed on the several acknowledgments pages of the American Insects site.
Many of our Neotropical insect images that have been identified only to order or family are posted on the Pbase site. For any of the images on the Pbase site or our other sites, we welcome identifications or comments about our identifications. Comments can be left on the Pbase site, or you can drop us an email to stephenteresa<at.> frontier.com.
Thanks for visiting!
